Target Video

If this comes to a town near you I highly recommend it. Locally at the Sarasota Film Festival they are having three nights of this. Tonight I saw the video with footage of LA bands. I had thought I would be seeing videos that I already knew, but it was all new to me. Lots of bands we love, but footage exclusive to Target Video. The most memorable was Johanna Went with her provacative stage show. Tomorrow is NY/Europe, then San Francisco for the third show on Saturday.

Peace Corpse

The 50th anniversary of the Peace Corps was in the news so I had to watch the movie "Volunteers" and then dig out this cassette from the band Peace Corpse who I think were from Arizona. Hit Parade

For the first time in a long time I started listening to my mixed tapes. While playing tape #79 I was reminded of the diversity of punk with the band Hit Parade. This was one Irish guy kinda like an Irish John Cooper-Clarke backed by Crass. Not for you hardcore junkies. For you youngsters be aware this was from a time of turmoil in Northern Ireland, a time of the IRA and British army being bully boys. It is also very relevant today with the "victory" of the Egyptian people. Same thing happen again revolution part 10. Punk Lives Magazine

I bought some of these when they first came out. I thought the photos were good quality and would cut them up and stick them on my bedroom walls. I will try and find my favorite photo of Colin of GBH with his spaghetti spiked hair. Sud Lincha

I got a comment from a hardcore band in St. Petersburg, Russia. They play some interesting DIY hardcore. Not sure what they are singing about but the vocals are of the throat shredding variety and the music on the punky side of mid tempo hardcore rather than less desirable metal. I'm not trying to be picky as its a good demo effort and it may be my computer but the guitar could have been louder. Offensive, immature, who cares. My mum was telling my kids that my band back in the day was awful, but not to say anything to me. They told me and I said "yes we were, that's what punk was all about".

Curfew
