Turkey Bones and the Wild Dogs

These guys were fucking insane. I saw them in Brentwood or Romford where my friends in Nitzer Ebb where playing. I then went up to The Hope and Anchor the next week to see Turkey Bones and the Wild Dogs again. I videoed them and later sent them a copy of the tape to an address in North London. I don't know if they got it as I had no further correspondence with them. At the Hope and Anchor it was pretty intense. On Helicopter Man Arab took to beating his bass guitar with a beer bottle. I think the song went on for ever. It was like an aural trip. This is a 12". They also did another 12" "No Way Before The Weekend" and a 7" "Goldfish". http://rapidshare.com/files/56362720/TB_TWD-Raymond.rar

saw them at Dingwalls in Camden sometime in the 80's, possibly after that year's Stonehenge Fest. Got the Goldfish 7" somewhere.

I suggested to Joe Foster that he do a Turkey Bones & The Wild Dogs compi when he was looking for ideas for Rev-Ola a couple years back. Sort of sounded like something he'd follow up, said he knew the band and all. Unfortunately nothing's appeared so far. Was also thinking of suggesting to Overground records a few years back cos they seemed to be covering somewhat similar territory.
Hoped that some of the video footage they took at the time survived and sound could be dubbed from that. don't think anything studio quite matched up to them live. No Way Before the Weekend particularly is way too clean/contained. Purple Noise Sandwich is getting there. Do remember seeing tapes by them on bootleg stalls so have been hoping that something by them would appear on Dime or somewhere. Again no luck so far.
Loved them live, harmolodic improvisatory mess, but beautiful with it. Somebody said they never practised, only looked back at the videos to see where they were going wrong.
Piece became a Weather Prophet. Scott/Turkey went onto Groovy Chainsaws then studio engineering for Che/Cheree records amongst others & live sound.

They were very good. If they ever look on here - Hi Arab, Piece, Scott and Herman - Juliet here! Scott, you know what? - dunno! I wish someone would put something on You Tube. I agree nothing on vinyl ever quite captured the madness. Hope you are all well - long may you run...

Donald

Sadly I don't have that video anymore. I also lost the ones I did of Nitzer Ebb. I did send Turkey Bones and the Wild Dogs a copy of the video, but I never heard any more from them.
